Colorado is one of more than two dozen states that opted in to the federal tax-credit scholarship program. Donors get a federal tax credit of up to $1,700; the money flows to Scholarship Granting Organizations; SGOs award scholarships to K-12 students for tuition and a long list of other expenses.
Families do not apply to the federal government. They apply to an SGO. That means the practical question for this fall is: which SGOs will operate in Colorado, and which schools will they work with? Existing organizations like ACE Scholarships have said they intend to participate.
What to do now: confirm your target school's plans, get on SGO interest lists, and complete our funding check so we can notify you when applications open.
