Created by the 2025 federal budget law, this program gives donors a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit (up to $1,700) for gifts to Scholarship Granting Organizations. Those SGOs then award scholarships to K-12 students. Governor Polis opted Colorado in, so Denver families are eligible when the program goes live on January 1, 2027.
Eligible expenses are broad: private and religious school tuition, tutoring, books and curriculum, uniforms, educational technology, transportation, and services for students with disabilities. Homeschool expenses qualify in most readings of the law.
Each SGO sets its own award sizes and application windows. We track every Colorado SGO as it is designated and will match you to the ones your school participates with.
How to stack it
Federal Tax-Credit Scholarship (2027) can usually be combined with school tuition assistance and at least one other source on this site. Complete the funding check and an advisor will map the full stack for your child.
